Despite facing the toughest market conditions since 2008, Airbus Helicopters is putting a brave face on its 2016 results, pointing to an increase in both deliveries and orders during the year.

With sales to the oil and gas sector dropping away completely, the manufacturer was able to maintain orders of 388 helicopters in 2016, largely through the sale of aircraft at the lighter end of its portfolio.

The company also delivered 418 helicopters in 2016, a 5% increase on 2015, while notably some 57% of sales were to military customers following some key wins in the UK and Singapore.
