Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
Airbus Helicopters and Patria have delivered the 20th and final NH90 helicopter to the Finnish defence forces at Patria's facility in Halli, Finland. This brings deliveries of serial NH90s to Finland under the 2001 contract to a close.
The first NH90 tactical transport helicopter (TTH) was delivered by Airbus Helicopter to Finland in 2008, with the remaining 19 assembled in Finland by Patria.
Ernst Heckert, program manager for the Finnish NH90, Airbus Helicopters, said: 'The delivery of this last serial helicopter is a significant milestone for the Finnish NH90 programme, and now moving forward we will concentrate on the retrofit programme, which is already in progress.'
Jussi Ristimäki, program manager for the NH90, Finnish Defence Forces, said: 'These helicopters are used for various tasks of the Finnish defence forces such as national defence, international crisis management and for SAR missions.'
The NH90 medium-size, twin-engine helicopter programme is managed by the NHIndustries consortium, which is owned by Airbus Helicopters, AgustaWestland and Fokker.
