FlightSafety AW139 training centre approved

AgustaWestland has approved the FlightSafety International AW139 helicopter training centre in Lafayette, Louisiana, it has been announced. The centre will act as an authorised AW139 training facility, expanding AgustaWestland's range of training partnerships and services in the US.

The FlightSafety centre has been providing AW139 training since May 2013. It features an AW139 Level D qualified full flight simulator with an advanced VITAL 1100 visual system and electric motion and control loading technology. It is optimised for training low-level flight operations.

David Davenport, senior vice president, FlightSafety International, said: 'We are very pleased to join AgustaWestland’s training network as an authorised training centre.'

The AW139 is a new generation medium twin-turbine helicopter. To date, orders for over 800 AW139 helicopters have been placed by approximately 220 customers from more than 60 countries to carry out a wide range of missions including offshore transport, law enforcement and homeland security duties, EMS/SAR, utility, firefighting, executive/private transport, and other government roles.
