ADEX 2017: Surion uncoils its wings

Representing the gradual expansion of its KUH-1 Surion helicopter range, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) demonstrated a new version for the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) at Seoul ADEX 2017.

Last year KAI was awarded a contract to build Surions for the ROKMC over a three-year period. Shephard understands the requirement is for 40 helicopters but that the initial contract is for 28 units. Production commenced earlier this year and the first unit will be handed over to the marines in December.

The main differences on this version is the addition of four inflatable flotation devices on the bottom edges
