Australia special ops stand up NRH90

Special ops have been initiated with the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) MRH90 as of 1 February 2019, the first two aircraft delivered replaced two Sikorsky S-70A-9 Black Hawks. The Black Hawks will retire from ADF service over the next two years as the SOF Taipans are transferred.

These are the first special ops NH90s in worldwide service. In addition, the ADF has several helicopter projects underway, including Land 2097 Phase 4 to procure 16.4t class SOF helicopters to complement the Taipan, and Land 4503, to replace the Airbus Tiger ARH before 2030.
