Boeing achieves Stingray success

After what has been seen as a somewhat turbulent competition, the US Navy has finally selected Boeing to fulfil its MQ-25A Stingray requirement.

Boeing beat out industry competitors General Atomics and Lockheed Martin to win a the $805 million contract on 30 August.

A total of four aircraft will be delivered and integrated onto an aircraft carrier in order to fulfil an initial operational capability.

Agreed by many, the unmanned, long endurance air to air refuelling capability is one that the US Navy is in need of. Work is expected to be completed in August 2024.
