US Navy Triton squadron stands up

Returning from the standing up of the US Navy’s first MQ-4C Triton UAS squadron on 28 October, senior officials at manufacturer Northrop Grumman are eyeing future prospects for the aircraft.

Speaking to Shephard during a briefing at the Northrop Grumman site at Rancho Bernardo, California, Triton programme VP Doug Shaffer said that the past month had seen a number of successes for the programme.

Shaffer said that the 17 October overflight of the new US Navy (USN) air defence destroyer USS Zumwalt was a particular highlight as it coincided with the aircraft’s 100th test flight.
