UCAV application for LM Sniper pod?

Lockheed Martin’s popular Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod could find its way onto a UAV or a UCAV in the foreseeable future. Quizzed by Unmanned Vehicles, programme manager Bill Spangenberg declined to go into detail, but he did confirm both that Lockheed Martin has examined the idea and that potential customers have expressed interest in it.

Originally designed to give tactical fast jets a means of identifying targets beyond jet noise range and to provide very precise designation for laser guided weapons, the Sniper ATP has evolved into a non-traditional ISR asset thanks to its optional video down link and software
