Taiwan’s coast guard selects UAVs
Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration (CGA) has decided to purchase 20 rotary-winged UAVs from Avix Tech, a Taiwanese manufacturer based in Taichung, in a contract valued at $4.25 million.
The acquisition of AXH-E230RS UAVs represents the CGA’s largest UAV procurement to date. The project will see eight UAVs inducted by the end of 2018, and the remaining 12 by May 2019.
The CGA’s Long-Range Instant Reconnaissance Surveillance Multifunctional Unmanned Helicopter project was seeking an unmanned platform for surveillance, detection, classification and identification missions. The CGA requires UAVs to improve search and rescue capabilities at sea and in coastal
