Swiftships develops robotic riverine craft

21st February 2014 - 10:17 GMT | by Scott Gourley in Huntsville

Swiftships has unveiled an unmanned version of its ‘Anaconda’ riverine surface vessel at a time when many competitors are decrying a struggling marketplace.

Anaconda was originally developed for the US Naval Special Warfare Special Operations Craft Riverine (SOCR) programme but lost out to United States Marine Inc (USMI).

However, company respresentatives assured Shephard that Anaconda had performed extremely well during programme testing, with the platform mature enough for further development.

According to Eric Geibel, Director of Special Programs at Swiftships, the company decided to look at innovative technologies that could be applied to the well-tested platform in late 2012.
