Safran to work on France's Furious project
Safran Electronics and Defense has been selected to develop three UGV demonstrators for the French armed forces as part of the Furious project, the company announced on 29 January.
The contract covers a period of five years, with the first phase expected to be complete within 18 months.
Furious - part of the Scorpion modernisation programme - has been designed to create a base for the integration of land UGVs in the French armed forces.
The project will see the development of three UGV demonstrators, of different sizes and with mission-specific profiles, for a variety of missions, such as exploring buildings and carrying loads for infantry soldiers.
These demonstrators will be deployed by an infantry platoon and tested in different configurations. The eRider UGV, the largest of three, will be developed by Safran Electronics and Defense in partnership with Valeo and PSA.
