Russian military funds three advanced UAV systems

The Russian MoD has accelerated its efforts to field three new long-endurance combat UAV systems, with the first of these slated for entering service in 2019, while the other two will begin flight testing.

The Orion (pictured), the first Russian-made MALE class UAV, offered for a wide variety of military applications, is at the most advanced development stage. According to the Russian deputy minister of defence, responsible for the procurement, Alexey Krivoruchko, its flight testing is in the final stages and the first deliveries of production-standard systems are slated for this year.
