Raytheon directs energy towards drone countermeasures

As the US military continuously looks for ways to protect convoys and forward operating bases from enemy UAVs, Raytheon is touting recent successes in shooting down both single drones as well as swarms.

At the army’s Maneuver Fires Integrated Experiment at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in December 2017, the company shot down 45 class I and II UAVs with two new technology systems — a high-energy laser and a high-powered microwave.
