Northrop Grumman puts full weight behind Firebird maritime makeover

Northrop Grumman expects to shortly integrate a maritime radar on its Firebird optionally piloted MALE UAV.

Northrop Grumman has revealed it is assessing a number of maritime radars for integration on its Firebird optionally piloted MALE ISR aircraft.

Radars under consideration are being offered by a ‘couple of different companies’ and are surface search-capable with detection ranges of 50-150nmi, according to Jon Haun, autonomous systems chief strategist at Northrop Grumman.

‘Once we have narrowed the search to one, we will be happy to share that [publicly],’ he told Shephard.
