Pacific 2019: MCM figures highly in Australian expo

Australia is acquiring a number of Bluefin UUVs from General Dynamics Mission Systems, as the country seeks to improve its mine countermeasures (MCM) capabilities. Other exhibitors were promoting their solutions at the Pacific International Maritime Exhibition in Sydney too.

The Bluefin UUVs, to be delivered next year, are being obtained under Project Sea 1778 Phase 1 that seeks to refresh its deployable task group MCM suite. Shephard understands that the Australian order encompasses four Bluefin-9 and three Bluefin-12 vehicles.

To be used to search for, classify and identify mines, the UUVs will be stationed at HMAS Waterhen in Sydney. They
