LRIP contract award for USN Knifefish UUV
General Dynamics Mission Systems has been awarded $44.6 million contract modification to enter into low-rate initial production for the US Navy's Knifefish unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV).
The Knifefish Surface Mine Countermeasure (SMCM) UUV is an ongoing effort to develop a vehicle that detects and classifies undersea volume, bottom and buried mines in high-clutter environments.
It is part of the Littoral Combat Ship’s MCM mission package, but can also be deployed from other vessels if necessary.
