US Army issues MX-10D contract to L3
L3 Technologies has received an IDIQ contract worth up to $454 million from the US Army for its next-generation Wescam MX-10D sensor suite, the company announced on 8 October.
The contract is for five years with an option for the army to extend to an additional five years.
The Wescam MX-10D electro-optical, infrared and laser designator sensor suite is in use on the army’s RQ-7B Shadow UAS, providing an advanced capability to collect critical information for use by air-ground manoeuvre teams.
Christopher Kubasik, chairman, chief executive officer and president, L3, said: ‘L3’s Wescam imaging and targeting turrets deliver the highest-precision situational awareness to our customers to help them overcome emerging regional and global threats. We are focused on developing new state-of-the-art multi-domain C6ISR technologies in support of the US Army’s modernisation strategy.’
L3 will continue to invest in research and development as the US Army will be evaluating options for its next generation Future Tactical UAS programme, the replacement for Shadow targeted for 2025.
