Greece issues tender for UAVs
The Hellenic Army has released an electronic open tender for urgent procurement of five reconnaissance UAVs for ‘special operations’.
Interested parties have until 29 October to submit a bid.
The Hellenic Ministry of National Defence has set aside a budget of €225,806 ($264,291) for the procurement of these five UAVs, categorised by the army in the tender document as ‘Type III’ platforms.
Operations mentioned in the document included in assistance to the Hellenic Armed Forces ‘in the management of refugees, crisis response to the ever-increasing flow of migrants/refugees and enhancing deterrent capacity’.
Data from Shephard Defence Insight shows that SpyLite and Sperwer Mk II UAVs are already in operation in Greece, while Heron 1 and Heron 2 platforms are on lease from Israel.
