Farnborough 2010: Italy awards $64 million contract for Shadow 200

AAI announced today that Italy’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has formally selected the company’s Shadow 200 Tactical TUAS for the Italian Army. Under the $64 million contract, Italy is being supplied with four Shadow TUAS for deployment alongside NATO forces.

The four systems being acquired by Italy consist of two ground control stations (GCS), a portable GCS, a launcher, a tactical automatic landing system, four air vehicles and remote viewing terminals. 'They are taking the latest specification digital Shadow with the tactical common datalink,' Steven Reid, vice president of unmanned aircraft systems, told Unmmaned Vehicles.
