Denel is currently developing the new Hungwe SUAS in an effort to develop a small system to add to its family of unmanned systems.

The system is currently in its design phase and a maiden flight is planned ‘for the end of 2012’, Sepanki Pheto, product line manager for Hungwe at Denel told Shephard on 17 April.

‘It was to fill the gap in the small or mini UAV market that Denel Dynamics is not currently involved in,’ Pheto explained. ‘Asia Pacific is part of our target market.’

The platform has a six hour endurance, 5kg mission payload, and 10,000ft
