Afghanistan forces to gain additional ScanEagles

Additional ScanEagle UAS will be heading to the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) following a $19.6 million award from the US Department of Defence.

The new contract for five UAS will join a number of ScanEagle UAS that have already been contracted to the country following a 2015 deal worth $70.9 million deal for 65 aircraft.

In the latest contract 95% of the work will be performed in Afghanistan compared with just 20% of the work in the 2015 contract. The remaining 5% will be carried out Bingen, Washington and is expected to be completed by 2018.
