The US Army is exercising a contract option with AeroVironment for avionics and RF data link upgrade packages on Raven tactical UASs.

The two-year deal is worth $21.06 million, AeroVironment stated on 8 July.

Raven B provides a low-altitude ISR capability for commercial and military applications. The system provides day/night aerial observation at line-of-sight ranges of up to 10km. The aircraft can be operated manually or programmed for autonomous operation.

‘AeroVironment is committed to providing continuous support to the Army’s ongoing, multi-year programs of record for tactical UAS, such as the Raven, with quick and efficient field upgrades to help operators around the world perform their missions more effectively,’ said Rick Pedigo, VP of Business Development and Sales for AeroVironment.
