DSEI 2017: Leonardo discovers new path forward for ASDOT

Despite Leonardo initially indicating to Shephard it would push its M-346 (pictured) training aircraft for the UK Air Support to Defence Operational Training (ASDOT) programme, it could now select a different platform.

Following the announcement at DSEI that Leonardo will be partnering with Inzpire and Discovery Air Defence Services, Norman Bone, chairman and managing director at Leonardo UK, told Shephard ‘the platform has not been decided yet’.

Bone added that the new partnering team will decide on the platform in the next few months.

This means that the Leonardo ASDOT offering could see a Discovery Air aircraft being offered up
