United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has officially initiated a requirement to acquire a V-22 internally transportable Light Tactical All Terrain Vehicle (LTATV).
This LTATV “follow-on” contract is expected to comprise a mid-range variant between in-service MRZR-2 and -4 LTATVs and the larger GMV1.1, capable of providing USSOCOM components with a larger sized platform which would still be able to fit inside the cargo hold of a V-22 tilt-rotor Osprey aircraft.
Such a platform could be used to support “fly and drive” operations by providing increased survivability, lethality and mobility for assault and reconnaissance teams, USSOCOM officials described
