Tech demonstrations could be part of Prince of Wales 2021 deployment
The first deployment of HMS Prince of Wales (foreground), second of the UK RN’s Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, in 2021 could see the platform being used as a host for technology demonstrations in addition to the usual flight test evolutions.
Commissioned into service in late 2019, Prince of Wales displaces more than 65,000t and being slightly longer than Queen Elizabeth, bears the honour of being the largest warship in the RN. The vessel can accommodate a mixed fleet of 48 fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft at full load, which will be, initially at least, a mix of F-35B
