UK shops lead P-8A parts
Construction of the UK’s planned fleet of nine P-8A MPAs moved a step closer following the award of a $68 million contract modification to Boeing for the procurement of long-lead items for the deal.
In the announcement by the US DoD on 18 August, the modification provides for long-lead items needed in the manufacture of two FRP4 (Lot 8) P-8A’s. Of the contract value 3.5% will be performed in Cambridge, UK.
However the process is still likely to be a long one with the first of the nine not scheduled for delivery until 2019. The aircraft will be delivered to US
