LCS returns to Asia in tight-lipped deployment
After a 19-month hiatus, the USN’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) returned to Singapore, this time deploying the Independence-class USS Montgomery (LCS 8).
Montgomery called into Singapore on 6 July, after a low-profile send-off from San Diego sometime in May.
Unlike the previous three LCS deployments, the USN did not announce the commencement or duration of Montgomery’s tour.
Speaking to reporters on 8 July, commanding officer Cdr Edward Rosso declined to give details of the ship’s engagements in the region or the types of activities it will conduct. However, the vessel is fitted out with a surface warfare package
