Kelvin Hughes details latest order
Kelvin Hughes’ SharpEye radar systems will be installed on a range of vessels being delivered to the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard (ROPCG) under a contract with Rodman Polyships announced on 24 March.
The X and S band SharpEye radar systems will give the vessels advanced maritime situational awareness for their patrol mission along the full extent of the 1700km Omani coastline.
Through the Doppler processing of the radar returns, SharpEye can identify objects with a low Radar Cross Section, from semi-submersed objects to the smallest of uncooperative craft, even in severe weather conditions. The radar’s low power output reduces the probability of detection by ESM equipment.
Paul Mariner, regional sales manager, Kelvin Hughes, said: ‘We’re delighted to have won this contract - a further confirmation of the superior performance, reliability and cost-efficiency of our SharpEye radar systems. We’re now looking forward to working closely with Rodman Polyships to provide the ROPCG with the very best in maritime situational awareness.’
Delivery of the vessels will begin this year and continue into early 2017.
