HII gains submarine research contract
The USN on 4 March awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) a $7.5 million modification to an earlier contract for engineering and technical design efforts on current and future submarine platforms.
Work is expected to be completed by September 2020 at sites in California, Idaho, New York State, Rhode Island and Virginia.
Research studies will be undertaken to enhance the development, production and sustainment of USN submarines and will be funded by $795,000 from the USN’s research, development, test and evaluation budget for FY2020.
Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington DC is overseeing the implementation of the contract.
