Aero India: Amphibian SAR aircraft to be built in India
ShinMaywa India says it is looking for Indian partners to co-manufacture the US-2i amphibian aircraft domestically while the Indian Navy mulls over the possibility of procuring 12-18 aircraft worth $3 billion from Japan.
With ‘Make in India’ driving future defence procurement, an unnamed source at ShinMaywa said the aircraft manufacturer plans to partner with an Indian company, which will be chosen by the government of India, to not only produce the aircraft but to also market and export it independently.
