USMC AA7 prototypes on way
New modernized prototype Assault Amphibious Vehicle 7s (AA7s) are to be delivered to the USMC this year.
SAIC is to deliver ten initial prototypes for testing in 2015. A low rate production contract could follow for 52 systems for operation field testing with all units delivered by 2020.
Ultimately the Marine Corps have indicated their full requirement is 396 vehicles.
The USMC showcased the upgrade of the current at the Modern Day Marine expo on 23–25 September. This programme will provide a considerable enhancement in performance and survivability.
