Ukraine to get 50 modified armoured vehicles
Ukraine's state-owned defence firm Ukroboronprom will overhaul and manufacture 50 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV-1) for the Ukraine military, the company announced on 20 February.
The IFV-1 is a modified BMP-1 amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It is designed to transport and support infantry in battle, can be transported by air and overcomes water obstacles 'with ease', according to Ukroboronprom.
The Zhytomyr armoured fighting vehicle plant has already started manufacturing IFV-1 combat module equipment, which offers 'significant' battlefield protection.
The IFV-1 will help increase mobility, armaments and protection for the Ukraine military, which is currently engaged in the so called Anti-terrorist Operation in Eastern Ukraine.
