Ukraine civil war spawns new BTR-4 variant
Lessons learnt from Ukraine's bloody civil war in the east has influenced the development of yet another variant of the BTR-4 wheeled 8x8 IFV, which now appears to offer enhanced combat survivability,
Manufactured by Ukraine’s Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau, the new BTR-4MV1 was demonstrated earlier this month with an all-new forward hull.
In previous BTR-4 variants the driver and commander are accommodated side by side and have armoured windows and individual side doors. The new BTR-4MV1, however, has a redesigned front lacking windows and side doors with the driver entering via a hatch instead.
