Singapore Airshow 2018: BAE offering modular bridge systems

BAE Systems is offering a new air transportable Modular Bridging System for the region's militaries, particularly for military operations other than war (MOOTW) into the Asia-Pacific region.

Simon Astley, Asia-Pacific head of communications, said that BAE Systems recognised the need for a bridging system capable of handling rough terrain not just in times of conflict, but also the increasing requirement of disaster relief operations in the region.. 

Astley pointed to Japan’s triple disaster in March 2011 when the island experienced an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant crisis, resulting in an estimated 20,000 deaths. Before that was Myanmar's 2008 Cyclone Nargis
