Saab receives Carl-Gustaf ammo order
The US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has placed an order for Carl-Gustaf man-portable weapon system ammunition with Saab, the company announced on 12 October.
The order is a part of the company’s framework contract with USSOCOM for the 84-mm recoilless rifle system that was announced in August 2014. The deliveries under the contract are expected to be made during 2015 and 2016.
The Carl-Gustaf system, known as MAAWS in US service, allows troops to remain agile and effective, giving users a wide range of engagement options.
Torbjörn Saxmo, head of business unit Ground Combat, Saab, said: ‘This order demonstrates the continued confidence of our customer in the capabilities and versatility of the Carl-Gustaf. The system gives soldiers a battle-winning edge through its high accuracy, supreme effectiveness and great versatility.’
