Raytheon furthers DeepStrike development
Raytheon has integrated its new launch pod missile container into the US Army's M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System launchers as part of its long-range DeepStrike missile development, the company announced on 9 October.
The company is developing the DeepStrike missile to meet the army’s Precision Strike Missile requirement.
Raytheon's new long-range precision strike missile features a two-in-the-pod design and an advanced guidance system. It will be able to fly farther and faster than the current weapon, which is approaching the end of its service life.
The surface-to-surface DeepStrike missile will be able to defeat fixed land targets at 60-499km and will have improved lethality and responsiveness compared to current systems.
