Philippine Army awards sizeable M113 upgrade
As expected, Elbit Systems has won a government-to-government contract to upgrade 49 M113 APCs for the Philippine Army. Forty-four of these will receive a Dragon RWS containing a 12.7mm M2 machine gun.
This M113 Firepower Upgrade programme, funded to the tune of PHP1,051,650,000 ($20.5 million), will upgrade nearly half of the 114 M113A2 APCs received from US Excess Defense Articles in 2015.
It is understood that the intergovernmental deal was signed back in January, and a letter of credit was issued several months later.
As well as the RWS with associated sights for day/night operations, each vehicle is fitted out
