Otokar submits BAFO for Altay serial production
Otokar has submitted its best and final offer to the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) for the serial production of the Altay main battle tank.
The proposal was submitted on 8 February within the scope of Turkey’s ‘Modern Tank Production Project by using National Sources’.
Otokar was selected as the prime contractor for the development, design, prototype and qualification processes of the Altay main battle tank in 2008. The qualification and acceptance tests of the prototypes produced in the first phase were successfully completed, and prototypes approved in February 2017.
The SSM released the Call to Bid Document for Altay’s serial production and integrated logistics support services in July 2017, and the company submitted its first proposal for this tender on 16 November 2017.
The inspection and approval process of the Technical Data Package by the SSM is currently underway.
Designed for the Turkish land forces, Altay is a modern main battle tank that features increased survivability, mobility and firing power.
