Oshkosh Defense announces second largest order ever for JLTVs
Oshkosh Defense on 30 November obtained two DoD deals worth a combined total of almost $911.5 million for its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV).
‘This is the second largest order of Oshkosh Defense JLTVs,’ the manufacturer announced in a statement.
A $888.42 million modification from US Army Contracting Command will see Oshkosh Defense provide 1,001 trailers, 2,679 vehicles and 6,725 kits for the USAF, US Army, USMC and USN by 31 October 2022.
In addition, US Army Contracting Command issued a $23.04 million modification for Oshkosh Defense to supply a total of 59 JLTVs and kits for FMS customers Brazil, Lithuania and North Macedonia. The completion date is also 31 October 2022.
According to Shephard Defence Insight, other FMS recipients of JLTV include Belgium, Montenegro and Slovenia.
Lithuania already ordered 200 vehicles for $160.73 million in November 2019. Earmarked for the Lithuanian Army and its Special Forces, these JLTVs will be delivered between late 2021 and 2024 in more than ten different configurations.
The contract included the option for Lithuania to buy 300 more vehicles but a decision on this is expected in 2024.
