IDE delivers upgraded M109 to Hellenic Army
Intracom Defense Electronics (IDE) has delivered the first M109s upgraded with Hybrid GenAirCon to the Hellenic Army following successful live firings, the company announced on 7 May.
The Hybrid GenAirCon system is being integrated into the Hellenic armed forces’ M109 platforms under a contract signed between IDE and BAE Systems Land and Armaments in 2017.
Based on IDE's hybrid electrical power systems product series technology, GenAirCon is a fully integrated power management solution for military vehicles. It includes a hybrid auxiliary power unit, an advanced energy storage system and a vehicle environmental control system, controlled by an intelligent central power management system.
Hybrid GenAirCon is designed to provide extended silent watch capability for increased survivability in field operations by enabling prolonged control of the vehicle’s thermal and noise traces. The system also offers reduced fuel consumption and reduced maintenance.
