Turkish manufacturer FNSS Savunma Sistemleri expects to produce 100 units of its new PARS SCOUT 6x6 and PARS SCOUT 8x8 vehicles in five configurations by next year, ‘in line with the expectations of the [Turkish] land forces and the gendarmerie’, the company announced last week.
‘The vehicles will be used by security forces in 2022,’ said Can Kurt, FNSS programme manager for the Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle Project (ÖMTTZ). The vehicles will be delivered ‘in a very short time after the qualifications are completed’, he added.
For ÖMTTZ, Shephard Defence Insight calculates that Turkish Land Forces Command is seeking 472 vehicles in four variants: 121 command vehicles; 217 sensor vehicles; 74 radar vehicles; and 60 CBRN reconnaissance vehicles. FNSS will deliver a fifth configuration (an armoured combat vehicle) to the Gendarmerie General Command, Kurt said.
