FLIR expands IR illuminator/pointer offerings
FLIR EOC has unveiled the newest addition to its military-qualified product line with the CLIP-NIR, an 830nm illuminator/pointer incorporating FLIR’s EOC’s advanced illumination array technology.
The system has been designed to meet the requirements for Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and other special operators, providing a compact laser pointer with the added capabilities of highly uniform illumination and combat ID tag triggering in both point and illuminator modes. It can be clipped onto a standard weapon rail or in a fixed-mount configuration on a vehicle, and can also be used as a handheld system by soldiers.
CLIP-NIR’s optical design delivers a brighter beam down range, as far out as 15 kilometers. The high power mode is rated at 600 mW, with a beam divergence of <1 mrad (in pointer mode) and an illumination beam width of 4 degrees.
CLIP-NIR weighs less than 230 grams and runs for up to six hours on a single CR123 battery. CLIP-NIR features a standard rail mount, compliant safety interlocks and has been approved by the Laser Safety Review Board. The pointer/ illuminator light module is also available as a component to military electro-optical systems developers.
