Denmark selects new LMG
The Danish Army has selected the US Ordnance M60E6 to meet its requirement for a new 7.62mm light machine gun (LMG), it has emerged.
The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) plans to order approximately 700 weapons for delivery by late 2014. A spokesperson from US Ordnance told Shephard that the contract was valued between 75-100 million Danish Kroner ($14-18.5 million).
The new weapon will replace the M/62, the Danish designation for the German 7.62mm G3 geneal purpose machine gun, which has the been standard machine gun employed within Danish infantry sections since 1962.
