Bangladesh receives final BTR-80 APCs
Russia has recently delivered the final batch of BTR-80 armoured personnel carriers (APC) to the Bangladesh Army.
The vehicles were delivered by the Military Industrial Company (VPK), with the company’s director general Alexander Krasovitsky stating earlier this year, ‘Bangladesh is our regular client. The white-coloured BTR-80s will go the local UN peacekeepers working there since the 1980s. We will complete the delivery this year.’
Bangladesh uses a number of these amphibious-capable 8x8 vehicles for UN missions in places such as Mali. Such BTR-80s are painted white for peacekeeping functions.
As of October, Bangladesh was contributing 7,133 peacekeepers to UN-sanctioned peacekeeping
