AUSA 2013: New weapon stations showcased
Two Kongsberg remote weapon stations (RWS) in new vehicle and weapon applications are on display for the first time at the AUSA exhibition in Washington DC.
In one case it is a joint effort along with Teledyne Reynolds and Terradyne Armoured vehicles to create a helmet-cued RWS mounted on a Ghurka armoured vehicle.
The other is a Protector RWS fitted with 30 mm weapon on a Striker armoured vehicle.
The Terradyne-developed Ghurka is a heavily modified Ford F-550, which uses the truck’s chasis but has substantial improvements ranging from up-armouring to more powerful suspension. The Ghurka retains the F-550’s 6.7
