SAS 2016: US Navy expands patrol boat forward presence
With a pending deployment of two craft to Guam, the US Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) is expanding the forward presence of its new Mk VI Patrol Boats (PB).
Manufactured by SAFE Boats International, the 85-foot Mk VI PB is powered by twin diesel engines with water jets and is capable of speeds in excess 35 knots at full load.
The vessel has a range of approximately 600 nautical miles and includes crew accommodations for extended missions. Additionally, the boat is fitted with ballistic protection and can be armed with a variety of crew served and remotely operated weapons
