Rolls-Royce wins US Navy T56 engine contract

Rolls-Royce will perform work for the US Navy to repair and overhaul T56 engines installed on a number aircraft types in the navy’s fleet. The work falls under a $35 million contract extension announced on 9 May.

The services contract covers depot-level repair of the T56 series III engine modules to support fielded P-3 and derivative aircraft, as well as T56-powered C-130 and C-2 aircraft.

Rolls-Royce said the repairs will take place at Rolls-Royce Engine Services Oakland, US (RRESO).

Paul Craig, president - defence customer services, Rolls-Royce, said: ‘We are delighted by this new option year for a long-term contract to repair and overhaul engines for US Navy aircraft at Rolls-Royce Engine Services in Oakland. This services facility is a key part of our overall support network for military customers as we seek innovative and cost-effective ways to ensure their missions can be completed.’

In addition to T56 repair and overhaul, RRESO services AE 1107C, F405 and M250 engines for other military customers.
