Raytheon to deliver Aegis fire control systems

Raytheon has been awarded a $124 million contract modification for the production of MK99 fire control equipment and the execution of modernisation work for the Aegis weapon system. 

This will support the operation of the system on the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, and covers the production of Multi-Mission Signal Processor Ordnance Alteration (ORDALT) kits, kill assessment system ORDALT kits and spares, radio frequency coherent combiner kits, high voltage power supply sidewall capacitors, and solid-state switch assembly kits.

The AMOD programme that this supports delivers combat system upgrades that will enhance the anti-air warfare and ballistic missile defence capabilities of Aegis-equipped Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers.

Work will support the US Navy’s Aegis programme primarily, although 1% of it will apply to Japan’s capabilities, and it will be performed at various sites across the US and is expected to be completed by April 2023.

Foreign Military Sale funding of the full contract amount was allocated at the time of award. 

The Naval Sea Systems Command based in Washington, DC, is the contracting activity for the award.
