Philippines awaits new cutter and frigates
Documents were signed at Coast Guard Base Alameda, California on 21 July to hand over a decommissioned Hamilton-class cutter to the Philippine Navy (PN).
Boutwell is the third high-endurance cutter to be signed over to the PN under the US excess defense articles (EDA) programme. Under its new flag the ship will be known as BRP Andres Bonifacio.
RAdm Joseph Vojvodich, the US Coast Guard’s (USCG) chief acquisition officer, said at the ceremony: ‘The Coast Guard is saddened that this cutter is no longer with our fleet, but we are also proud to send it on a new
