Pakistan Navy gets second maritime patrol aircraft
Rheinland Air Service (RAS) has delivered a second RAS 72 Sea Eagle aircraft to the Pakistan Navy, the company announced on 10 July.
The aircraft is part of a contract signed in 2015 to equip the Pakistan Navy with a modern fleet of maritime patrol aircraft (MPA). The first aircraft was delivered in June 2018.
Equipped with Aerodata’s mission management system for anti-submarine warfare operations, the RAS 72 MPA is based on the turbo prop ATR 72 platform. The aircraft carry sensors for the detection and identification of sensitive targets above or below the surface of the ocean, and have the ability to transmit information in real-time to dedicated command centres.
